Testing Innovation: How Wake County Built a Test Library

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Wake County Public Libraries (WCPL) wanted to develop leadership opportunities for librarians interested in management, as well as a method to pilot innovative projects related to programs, services and operations.  As a solution to both needs, WCPL transformed their smallest library location into the Test Library, and created the annually rotating position of Test Library Manager. During their year-long appointment, the Test Library Manager runs day-to-day operations, as well as pilots new ideas, services and programs. WCPL’s Management and Policy Analyst, who developed and oversees the project, and the initial Test Library Manager will share their experiences with launching the program and their takeaways from the Test Library, now in its second year of fostering innovation and opportunity.
