How do libraries, fitness, and public libraries intersect? Noah Lenstra, director of “Let’s Move in Libraries,” moderator of the Biking Librarians group, and Professor of Library Science at UNCG will speak about libraries working with their communities and other non-profit organizations to create fitness programs and promoting library resources via bicycles. Beth Cramer and John Boyd, having completed a cross-country bicycle tour of public libraries during the summer of 2018, will speak about their journey and interviews with over 40 librarians. During their trip, they discovered many ways libraries motivate fitness and wellness, a variety of attitudes towards public libraries, and some interesting municipal politics. The program will also offer ideas how audience members can get themselves, their libraries, and their communities involved in cycling, and fitness.
