We strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment where participants may learn, network and share information with colleagues in an atmosphere of mutual respect. To that end, we request that attendees abide by the ALA Statement of Appropriate Conduct at our biennial conference and other association sponsored events. Libraries are a Space to Create: Marketing 3D Printing in Small College Library

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
This informal group discussion will talk about marketing 3D printing and other makerspace services in a college library setting, including creating the presence on your library's website, advertising the services to students or your user community, working with faculty to try to incorporate 3D print projects into the curriculum, and exploring various promotional techniques designed to raise your makerspace profile (contests, giveaways, social media). This discussion will serve not only as a forum for successful strategies, but will also be an opportunity to talk about what happens if the makerspace/3D printing services have less use than expected usage and evaluate possible solutions. This discussion is primarily designed for those libraries currently offering 3D printing and related services, but could be of interest to those libraries looking to start a makerspace.
