The North Carolina Library Association (NCLA) values everyone’s attendance at our events. We strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment where participants may learn, network and share information with colleagues in an atmosphere of mutual respect. To that end, we request that attendees abide by the ALA Statement of Appropriate Conduct at our biennial conference and other association sponsored events. If you experience or witness something that you feel is in violation of this code of conduct, please contact Mike Crumpton at 919-271-6812 or Lorrie Russell at 336-307-0930. Everyone needs a peer support network! This session offers academic library deans/directors the chance to build their peer networks, make connections, and discuss common issues. Need advice on a thorny situation? Seeking inspiration for a new space? Have great ideas to share? Looking for grant partners? This session is for you! Facilitated by the current and past chairs of the UNC Libraries Advisory Council, this session brings together private and public academic library deans/directors from 2- and 4-year institutions across the state to discuss how we can partner to improve services to our institutions and support each other. Conversation starters include communicating the value of libraries to the institution’s leaders, successful partnerships among libraries of different types, and identifying and responding to user needs. Where the conversation goes is up to you! We hope this is the first of many such conversations among library deans/directors at community college, private, and public academic institutions.
