Librarian Projects with Online Learners: Innovations, Successes, and Failures

Online learners are everywhere, and librarians are constantly creating and executing innovative projects with these users. Online learners can feel isolated and neglected, highlighting the vital need for librarians to create programming and projects for these patrons. Online learners are diverse, and librarians’ projects with virtual patrons are varied. There are many examples of these projects, such as proctoring for online classes, embedding and participating in online courses in higher education, creating virtual events for distance students, developing online professional development courses, and designing online learning objects and tutorials on library systems and concepts. In this NCLA lightning talk forum, a group of librarians will share 10 minute presentations on in-process, innovative projects with online learners, including sharing their successes and failures. This lightning talk session is sponsored by the NCLA Distance Learning Section section.
