We strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment where participants may learn, network and share information with colleagues in an atmosphere of mutual respect. To that end, we request that attendees abide by the ALA Statement of Appropriate Conduct at our biennial conference and other association sponsored events. Poster #2 -- Setting the PACE with Seniors: Digital Literacy Instruction for Older Adults

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Many older adults have been left behind on the wrong side of the digital divide. This population is often underserved because they may move at a slower pace and lack the skills that would enable them to join a class filled with younger, more tech-savvy participants. In this poster, we will discuss and offer our experiences with teaching seniors technology in our Senior Geek Squad Program including classroom setups, handouts, and, most importantly, a lesson plan that will work. From sending emails to adding a new contact on their smartphone, they are still eager to learn, just at a different PACE.
