In May 2015, UNCW’s Randall Library implemented a bento-style search experience on our website. Our "bento" search compartmentalizes results from disparate systems such as the library catalog, Summon, and the library website, and then presents those results in one user interface. In 2017, we began exploring ways to improve the search experience. Usability testing would help us better understand and serve our users. But what to test? How to test it? With our poster, we will explore how Randall Library performed usability tests on our search system and what we learned about presenting search results to users.
